Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Dear Friends,

As a Christian congregation in a local community, we are sharing in the grief of millions of people, worldwide at the death of our late Queen, Elizabeth the Second. She has been an inspiring example of faith, love and service for more years than many of us can remember. She has been a living symbol of security and stability in a fast-changing world. She has earned the loving loyalty and devotion of her people, as was demonstrated in the joyful celebrations of her Platinum Jubilee earlier this year and, to put it simply, we shall miss her so very much.

The United Reformed Church sent out a special News Update, reflecting on the life and death of our Queen, including some appropriate Bible readings and prayers to help us as we work through our sense of loss. I feel that I can do no better than to pass this on to you, with hope and prayer that you will find this both comforting and inspiring.

At St John’s Church this Sunday (11th September) we shall begin our 10:30 am service with a brief act of remembrance for the Queen. The service will then proceed in the usual way.

Once the date and time of the Queen’s funeral are announced, we hope to be able to open our church on that day and have the funeral service played on our screens so that friends and neighbours may join together for this event rather than remain at home alone.  Please check our website for further details in due course.

God Bless the Queen

May she rest in peace and rise in glory

God Bless and Keep You all.

Jennifer
