ST JOHN’S IN THE PANDEMIC WEEK 20

Dear Friends

Sunday Services

Well here we are at something of a watershed. Some 90 years after we first opened our doors at St John’s and some 65 years since we opened our present sanctuary we are preparing to open our doors after weeks of lockdown. Never before and hopefully never again have we been forced to deny access to our wonderful sanctuary. Its only for prayer but given the present circumstances it’s a start.

Don’t forget our Zoom coffee and chat session after Sunday service online. All you need to do is to click on this link.

You won’t see me (which could be a blessing in disguise) or Tina as we are off to sample the sunny delights of North Wales for a few days.

Re-opening for Prayer

As Emma Swan and Andrew Rose are getting married in a “Minimony” ceremony at St John’s on Saturday 8 August and in order to maintain our cleaning and sanitation regime we have delayed our re-opening by a week. So we will open for Prayer from Thurs 13 August between 2 and 3-30, followed by Sunday 16 from 4 to 5.30. The intention then is that we will open each week at these times until we can worship again at St John’s.

Church Family News

Charlie is on leave this week. Perhaps it won’t be the easiest week for him but we all hope that he returns refreshed and reinvigorated. I certainly enjoyed his sermon on the Lost Son – I hope you all did as well.

Please pass on this message to anyone you know who either is not on our email list or indeed to any neighbours or friends who need comfort and support at this worrying time. And if you feel the need for specific Prayers to be said for yourself, your loved ones or the community please remember you can request these through the website, your pastoral visitor or by simply texting a message to 07856 851045.

Take care and stay safe

Jon
