A message from the Church Secretaries
I am sure that you are all well aware of the worsening situation with Coronavirus and do not need to be reminded that we are all asked to take more care, wash our hands and practise social distancing to try to reduce the effect and spread of the virus. The URC, in common with almost all Faith groups, have advised that all Church activities should be cancelled for the foreseeable future.
So it is with a heavy and sad heart that I am informing you that, as of today, all our Church related activities including all worship services, are cancelled until the end of April at least, with the probability that it will extend beyond that date. St John’s will be open this Sunday for private prayer only between 1000 and 1200 hours. I will let you know in due course if we decide to extend opening the Church for prayer.
We intend to publish a shortened version of what our Mothering Sunday service would have delivered. This will be in the form of a video or podcast featuring Jennifer and Charlie with some of the material produced by Rainbows. This will be available through a link on the website at www.stjohnsurc.org.uk
We hope to make something similar as a regular feature on the website to replace Sunday morning worship. You can also find a similar service from the URC through their Daily Devotions system which you can reach at devotions.urg.org.uk
If you feel the need for specific Prayers to be said for yourself, your loved ones or the community please remember you can request these through the website, your pastoral visitor or by simply texting a message to 07856 851045.
April’s newsletter will be distributed primarily by email as it would not be desirable at this time to have members distributing copies. Anyone who is not on email will have a copy delivered to them.
Please keep the date of the AGM in your diary as we can only hope that it might take place. And once this crisis is over we plan on having an “Easter” Celebration to thank our Lord and give praise for deliverance from this Pandemic.
God is involved with us and we with him so there is always hope that with his help and our trust we will get through this crisis.
Please be on the lookout for messages with the headline title in the coming weeks. I will provide an update on a weekly basis as a minimum. And please pass on this message to anyone you know who either is not on our email list or indeed to any neighbours or friends who need comfort and support at this worrying time.
God Bless you and Keep you safe
